Stability of Circular Toroidal Shell Subjected to Uniform External Pressure

Abstract

In this paper, the theoretical and numerical analysis methods for the stability of circular torodial shells under external pressure are studied. Effects of unit type, unit density and boundary condition on the stability analysis of circular toroidal shell are discussed. A reasonable method for establishing analysis model is proposed. The theoretical and numerical solution are compared with the experimental value. The results show that the numerical solution is consistent with the experimental result, while the theoretical solution calculated by the Jordan’s formula has a large deviation.
