Zeolitic Imidazolate Framework-67 Functionalized Chitosan Aerogel for Efficient Removal of Dye

Abstract

As an efficient adsorbent, metal-organic framework (MOF) has been used in dye wastewater treatment. However, the morphology of MOF powder has some disadvantages, such as poor recoverability and complex operation process. The zeolitic imidazolate framework-67@chitosan aerogel (ZIF-67@CSA) was prepared by alkali freezing-thawing method, freeze drying and in situ growth method to remove dye congo red. The load mass ratio of ZIF-67on CSA is as high as 41.2 wt% ZIF-67@CSA was used to adsorb dye congo red, and the removal rate is more than 89.3%. This strategy provides an effective and universal way to prepare high loaded MOF natural polysaccharide aerogel, thus expanding its application in the field of pollutant treatment.
