Abstract:
In recent decades, people spend more and more time in front of their computers; therefore, instead of writing on a paper, it is more common to type on a keyboard. In the case of handwriting, there are personal traits implicitly left with the written text since people do not write the same way. Since how one writes on a paper using a writing tool results in a different outlook of the written text for each person, one may question whether the process of typing on a keyboard involves any specific personality traits or not. It can be proven that several particular properties exist in the case of keyboard usage too. One of the most typical properties is based on differences in time with respect to pressing and releasing keys on the keyboard. In this paper, we present a visualization method for representing the typing styles of people, based on differences in when they press and release each key on the keyboard over time. Using time differences of keystrokes for visualization purposes allo
ws to create a visible image about an individual’s personal typing habits.
