Abstract:
In this project we describe research into playful learning experiences featuring smartphones and external sensors. We built and tested a number of games which can be played using environments populated with sensors and/or actuators interfaced wirelessly with smartphones. An overall story interlinking the games was developed based on the need for action to tackle climate change. Trials with teenage schoolchildren revealed approaches which both appeal to players and have the potential to educate.
