Abstract

This research focuses on using a PID-controlled static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) to improve the power quality of grid-connected wind energy conversion systems (WECS). Because wind energy is intermittent, integrating wind energy systems into the grid frequently results in power quality problems such reactive power imbalance, voltage fluctuations, and harmonic distortions. With the help of a Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller, the STATCOM successfully reduces these power quality problems. The effectiveness of the suggested strategy in preserving grid stability and guaranteeing adherence to grid codes is confirmed by simulation results.
