Abstract

Lung cancer is the most deadly disease in the world. The common treatment options include surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and targeted therapy can also be used selectively for those with positive driver genes. However, the 5-year survival rate of lung cancer patients is still low. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the most common type of lung cancer, and there is an urgent need for new treatment methods in clinic. Immune checkpoint inhibitors have changed the treatment landscape for advanced NSCLC, showing advantages in first-line, second-line and even multi-line therapy for patients with NSCLC. In recent years, immunotherapy has provided a possibility for patients with NSCLC as a new and effective tumor treatment method. This review reviewed the mechanism of action, clinical application, immune escape mechanism and adverse reactions of immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy in non-small cell lung cancer.
