Abstract

The knowledge of users is utilized in several aspects during software engineering-related tasks and research, such as UX and usability testing, code review sessions, and interactive debugging tasks, to name a few. Anyone who wishes to work with such a system has to face two challenges. They have to evaluate the proposed process and implement or integrate it into their workflow. This paper aims to aid these endeavors by providing a lingua franca for the stakeholders to define and express the expected users’ feedback and the reaction they give to them. Our goal is not to evaluate all users’ feedback-related results or to solve their testability and applicability. Nevertheless, our findings will support the resolution of these issues. We provide a formal terminology, which allows the stakeholders to specify their feedback instances, the items, and the actions.
