Abstract

The article samples Chinese A-share listed companies from 2007 to 2020, and verifies the relationship between the controlling shareholder equity pledge, surplus management and enterprise innovation by using empirical research methods. The study found that the implementation of equity pledge by the controlling shareholders will reduce the degree of innovation of enterprises, and the real surplus management will play a partial intermediary role in the relationship between the two. The research conclusion is helpful to improve the economic consequence theory of equity pledge.
