Abstract

Mobile hosts having multi-interfacing capability can increase their performance (i.e., throughput) by effectively making use of concurrent transmissions over multiple available network paths. Nevertheless, this policy severely faces degradation in application-level throughput performance because of highly dissimilar characteristics (i.e., different delay and available bandwidth) of multiple network paths. In particular, the dissimilar paths‘ characteristics issue will persistently cause data to be received disordered (i.e., Out-Of-Order (OOO)) and due to negligibility of this issue, serious degradation in application-level throughput performance will occur. Consequently, these mentioned issues will further create the buffer blocking problem in the system and hence degrades the performance to a greater extent. In this paper, we evaluate and present an analysis of the concurrent transmission policies‘ performance over varying path characteristics. And we will understand what is the behaviour of the suggested concurrent transmission policies when the paths‘ characteristics are highly varied
