Abstract

Nursing skills are highly implicit. No effective method has been established for passing them on to the next generation of nursing workers. This research represented an attempt to formalize the skills of skilled nurses. To evaluate human mental state and emotions objectively, we clarified differences in brain activity between skilled and novice nurses at the time of collecting blood from a patient. As a result, many skilled nurses tried to use their own knowledge for the blood vessels they faced for the first time, irrespective of the blood collection success or failure. However, some novice nurses face subsequent blood collection without reflecting on the clear factors leading to success or failure.
