Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is a disease caused by dengue virus that transmitted through the bite of Aedes aegypti. The way to decrease it is through the spread chain of A. aegypti as its vector. Insecticides commonly used are organophosphates that cause death in non-target organisms. Therefore, since 1985 WHO has recommended to look for bioinsecticides that does not cause negative impact on non targeted organisms. The example of bioinsecticides is Betel leaves and Srikaya seeds extract. The toxicity testing of this bioinsecticide to non-target organisms was used to monitor the environment seen through observation of fish health conditions. Non targeted organism used was Cyprinus carpio. Testing of this bioinsecticide with concentrations of 0.25 g/10 L, h0.5 g/10 L, 0.75 g/10 L and 1 g/10 L was performed on goldfish for 96 hours. Observations made on mortality, morphological and histopathological changes of liver and gill organs of the fish. The result showed that LC50 granule mixture of Betel leaves and Srikaya seeds extract was 113.7 g/L, classified as low toxicity. Granules with a concentration of 1 g/10 L could kill 95% A. aegypti larvae within 105 min and did not do any damage to goldfish within 48 hours.
