Abstract

Abstract: Introduction: Exercise may inducedFGF 21 myokine release, which can be used for treatment of obesity. However, the physical exercise response to FGF 21 release varies. This condition thought due to different frequency of physical exercise. But the effect of these exercises are differentbetween the high-fat diet fed and standard diet fed is still unclear. We aim to determine the optimal acute response ofhigh intensity intermittent short duration andmoderate intensity continous long duration in high fat diet fed and standar diet fed rats through the secretion ofFGF 21. Methods: The study design was in vivo experimental study using 24 Male Sprague Dawley Rats (age 8-10 weeks). Rats were grouped into 4 groups (n=6): (1) Standard Diet Group with high intensity- intermittent-short duration exercise (SF1), (2) Standard Diet Group with moderateintensity-continuous- Long Duration Exercise (SF2), (3) HFD Group with high intensity-intermittent-short duration exercise (HF1), (4) HFD Group with moderate intensity-continuous-long duration exercise (HF2). All groups performed the exercise, after being induced with diet for 8 weeks. Blood was collected immediately after exercise.FGF 21 level was measured by ELISA. Results: This study showed that there were nosignifican statistical (p>0,05) of FGF21 level between high intensity intermittent-short duration exercise and moderate intensity continous-long duration exercisegroup after a single bout of exercise. In addition, we found that there were different FGF 21 secretion between groups fed with standard diet and those fed with high fat diet. Conclusion: Physical exercise can induce the release of FGF 21.High intensity intermitten short duration exercise tend to increase FGF 21 releaseboth ofstandar fed diet rats and High fat diet rats in acute response.Additionally, we found the released of FGF21 tend to higher in high fat diet rats compared to standar diet rats.
