Women Experiences in Dating Online Tinder

Abstract

Having a spouse is a crusial importance for some woman. Some women have problems in their difficulty approaching men among complex selection processes. There are many unique moments in communicating between individuals occurring in the process of getting a partner. Tinder may facilitate this. Finding a mate or interpersonal relationship can be done with technology. This paper describes how Tinder female users construct their experiences and how they are defined while communicating using this platform. Atribution theory are central to this research. This is a qualitative research with phenomenological approach. The result indicate that Tinder female users varied in how they define communication in sosial media accordance to their personal aims. Women define Tinder as a mean to seek serious romantic relationship. However, this is not the only tool, althougt they also expect to find one via this platform. Like other social media, Tinder also has a weakness as a communication disorder in seeing the original identity of the users or the time required to get a response from the other person. Interaction in the real world and cyber can be differences experience. Not always the communication that exists between two people in Tinder will be the same when meeting face-to-face. From these findings, we discuss Tinder as a matchmaking instrument for romantic relationship.
