Abstract

Introduction: An indonesian languaged measurement tool that can describe the quality of life of a person with musculoskeletal pain is needed in Indonesia.. One measurement tool of health related quality of life often used is Short Form 36 (SF-36). Methods: This is an observational cross sectional study done in two stages. The first stage is translaton and cultural adaptation, a modified cross cultural adaptation guideline was followed. The second stageis the validity and reliability testing using data from 40 respondents of Residents in Dr. Soetomo General Hospital with musculoskeletal pain in August-October 2017. Validity tested using correlation between indonesian languaged SF-36 with standard SF-36 and Visual analogue scale. Internal reliability tested using Cronbach alpha, test-retset reliability tested using correlation between two moments of questionnaire filling. Result: Indonesian language SF-36 domains showed positive correlation with standard SF-36 domain (range r=0,9557 to 0,6815 with p=0,0001). VAS showed a significant negative correlation with bodily pain (BP), physical function (PF), role-pysic (RP), and general health (GH) (r>0,3 p<0,05). The internal reliability show consistency with the alpha of all domain >0,7. The test retest reliability showed correlation in two moments of filling (r>0,3 p<0,05). Conclusion: The adoption of indonesian language SF-36 is valid and reliable.
