Abstract

The Government of Indonesia has formulated various programs to achieve equitable regional development. Village tourism program has become an alternative to improve the socio-economic development of the village. This paper discusses the development and promotion of tourist villages using social media. The case study was conducted in Sumberdodol Village, Magetan Regency, East Java Province. Sumberdodol is selected because the village is endorsed as a tourist village by the Indonesian government. Data was collected from observations and surveys to generate the descriptive data on the knowledge and practice of villagers in digital tourism. This study found a wide range of supply and demand gap in the utilization of ICTs among the local residents in promoting village tourism.
