Abstract

The Semantic Web is becoming fundamental in the Web. The amount of data available in the Web is increasing in great proportions, it is very important to find ways to deal with this trend. The Semantic Web can help with this, by giving meaning to this data in a way that machines can understand what information it contains and automatically process it. In this paper we present a study about the compatibility between the latest version of the Web Ontology Language (OWL 2) and the Temporal Web Ontology Language (tOWL), based on the first version of OWL. We analyze which constructs of tOWL can be used and modified into OWL 2 maintaining decidability aspects. The current version of OWL does not have resources to represent complex time information and the main contribution of this work is a new proposal to represent time in OWL 2.
