Abstract

The increasing coupling of former isolated systems towards an interwoven complex structure poses questions about the controllability and maintainability of the corresponding systems. This paper discusses challenges resulting from the growing complexity of technical systems and derives solution perspectives by utilising concepts from the domain of self-organising and self-optimising systems, in particular from the Organic Computing and Autonomic Computing initiatives.
