Abstract

This paper presents a testing procedure for local temperature perception with a following evaluation of the acquired information. Relative temperature changes had to be noticed by the subjects. To apply a temperature effect a peltier element arrangement, permitting to cool down and heat up with one element, has been utilized. First results show good correlation with a warmth sensation scale, although highly subjective parameters have been interpreted. The error rate in detecting small temperature changes is higher than for larger changes, except for very high changes, which caused temperature misperceptions.
