Abstract: At present, mean Lead Time (LT) of prescription services in outpatient pharmacy at Rumah Sakit Pusat Angkatan Darat still does not meet the standard, for pulveres was more than 2:12:11hours and for others was more than 2:13:20 hours. This study aimed at improving the LT of prescriptions at the outpatient pharmacy. Action research design used was quantitative analysis. It was conducted in November 2015 to June 2016. Value Added Ratio (VAR) and LT were measured before and after intervention. After the intervention, LT improved to as fast as 0:51:22 hours for pulveres and 0:47:31 hours for others, VAR up to 1%-9%. Value stream mapping and kaizen framework were used to identify and eliminate waste. There were also statistically significant improvements using Welch and Brown-Forsythe test which is robust to assumption violation (p≤0.05). Three interventions were performed, namely reorganization of workspace layout, reclassification of medication storage and redesign of process. Three int erventions resulted in considerable time improvement to reduction motion, inventory, extra-processing and overall shorter LT. Time waste was identified in the process and eliminated with a simple intervention techniques leading to improvement in total LT. Waiting time needs further investigation. (More)
