Abstract: Transparency is a solution to various problems in the extractive industry and also perceived as the main prerequisite to achieving good governance. Transparency in the extractive industry can encourage the quality of natural resource management so that natural resources owned by Indonesia are expected to have a significant effect on people's welfare and development. EITI (Extractive Industries Transparency Initiatives) is a global standard for transparency in the extractive industry sector. The advantage of Indonesia to implement transparency according to the EITI Standards from the perspective of the government is that transparency will facilitate the process of communication and information to the public. Through published information, the public can find out how far the government records and manages extractive industry sector utilization. From a business standpoint, transparency will provide equal information to all parties. With the same information, business people will compet e healthily to provide optimal benefits for the country. From the perspective of the community, transparency can provide information to the public about the natural resources extracted from the region. Communities can monitor whether management is appropriate and provide fair benefits. (More)
