Abstract:
AIDS is a disease characterized by complex abnormalities in the cellular defense system of body that caused by HIV. Most of HIV researches are dominated in epidemiological studies, even though it is a big problem and appointed interesting for psychosocial research. This research aimed to explore problems focused coping on people living with positive HIV in Batang Regency, especially on their spirituality and depression symptoms. This research was a qualitative research focused on people living with positive HIV by problems focused coping. Methods of data were obtained through intensive interviews on 5 key informants of people living with positive HIV, peers, families, and 3 triangulation informants: KPA of Batang, the case manager of Communication Forum for Batang and the companion of people living with positive HIV. In addition, to decline physical health problems as a prime stressor, a number of psychiatric syndrome cases have been identified in relation with people living with pos
itive HIV. Based on spirituality, there was a few of people living with positive HIV who showed to draw closer to God. People living with positive HIV were faced with the problem of stigma in society so they need to cope to strategies, such as emotion focused coping.
