Abstract: Programmers often recur for online communities in order to find help for a current problem that they are facing. However, after sharing a question, its author has no guarantee if he will receive an answer, neither when. Recent studies have found that low quality is one of the top reasons why questions remain unanswered. In this work, we conducted a qualitative study aiming identifying what programmers are looking in a question that they decide to answer. Based on this feedback, we designed a tool to help programmers to write high quality questions. We named the app Questions’ Advisor, due his role of helping but without forcing the user to follow it, and it is available for desktop and mobile clients. We believe it could be very helpful, especially for novice programmers.
