Foreword: This volume contains the abstracts and final program of the 12th International Conference on Software Technologies (ICSOFT 2017) held in Madrid, Spain from 24-26 July, 2017. ICSOFT is sponsored by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC), co-organized by Universidad Rey Juan Carlos and held in cooperation with The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) and IEICE Special Interest Group on Software Interprise Modelling (SWIM). The purpose of ICSOFT is to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners interested in software technologies. The conference main areas are "Software Engineering", "Software Systems and Applications" and "Software Paradigm Trends". The 2017 edition of ICSOFT included four talks delivered by internationally distinguished speakers: Jan Bosch (Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden), Siobhán Clarke (Trinity College Dublin, Ireland), Stefano Ceri (Politecnico di Milano, Italy) and Andreas Holzinger (Medical University Graz, Austria). The ICSOFT conference received 85 paper submissions from 33 countries of which 20% were accepted as full papers. To assess each submission, a double-blind paper evaluation method was used. Each paper was reviewed by at least two internationally known experts from the ICSOFT Program Committee. As in previous editions of the conference, based on the reviewers’ evaluations and on the presentations, selected authors will be invited to submit extended versions of their papers for a book, which will be published by Springer with the best papers of ICSOFT 2017. The program for this conference required the dedicated effort of many people. Firstly, we must thank the authors, whose research efforts are herewith recorded. Next, we thank the members of the Program Committee and the additional reviewers for their diligent and professional reviewing. Last but not least, we thank the invited speakers for their invaluable contribution and for taking the time to prepare their talks. Finally, a word of appreciation for the hard work of the INSTICC team; organizing a conference of this level is a task that can only be achieved by the collaborative effort of a dedicated and highly capable team. A successful conference involves more than paper presentations; it is also a meeting place, where ideas about new research projects and other ventures are discussed and debated. Therefore, a social event & banquet has been arranged for the evening of July 25th to promote social networking among keynote speakers, researchers, and other participants. We wish you all an exciting conference and an unforgettable stay in the city of Madrid. We hope to meet you again next year for ICSOFT 2018. (More)
