Foreword: This volume contains the proceedings of the First International Multi-Conference on Innovative Developments in ICT (INNOV 2010), organized by the Interdisciplinary Institute for Collaboration and Research on Enterprise Systems and Technology (IICREST) and technically sponsored by IEEE Technical Committee on Scalable Computing (IEEE TCSC). The purpose of this conference is to bring together researchers and practitioners interested in innovative ICT developments, in general, and particularly developments that concern ecology, healthcare, learning, and enterprises. INNOV is hence composed of four co-located conferences, namely: - International Conference on Green Computing - International Conference on e-Health Services and Technologies - International Conference on Technology-Enhanced Learning - International Conference on IT-enabled Innovation in Enterprise The First International Conference on Green Computing (ICGREEN 2010), focusing on the role of information technology in the accomplishment of more eco-responsible behavior of people, aims at bringing together researchers and practitioners who are interested in both computing and the possible impact of computing on the environment, and who are committed to work on the development of eco-effective technologies and technology applications. The First International Conference on e-Health Services and Technologies (ICEHST 2010), focusing on the role of information technology (including sensor technology) in the support of healthcare, aims at bringing together researchers and practitioners who are interested in both IT and sensor solutions to problems that relate to tele-monitoring and tele-treatment as well as in fundamental modeling challenges that relate to this. The First International Conference on Technology-Enhanced Learning (ICTEL 2010) aims at bringing together researchers and practitioners who are working on next generation ICT enhanced learning solutions, both in higher education and companies. E-learning is currently passing to a next phase where connections are at the core of learning processes, involving people to share and co-create knowledge. The First International Conference on IT-enabled Innovation in Enterprise (ICITIE 2010) intends to complement the mostly behavioral and technology centered discussion on innovation. The aim of this conference is to examine how information technology enables and generates innovation and thus provides value to enterprises. Hence, the conference will discuss and share best practices, experiences, models, methods and tools for innovation and enterprise renewal. INNOV 2010 has received 74 paper submissions from 32 countries in all continents. 7 papers were accepted and published as full papers, i.e. completed work (12 pages in proceedings / 30 min. oral presentations), 15 additional papers (describing work in progress) – as short papers (20 min oral presentations), leading to a total of 22 oral paper presentations. Next to that, 8 papers have been selected for poster presentation. The full-paper acceptance ratio was thus about 9.5%, and the total oral paper acceptance ratio was close to 30%. Some of the papers are mainly focused on the INNOV domains, proposing ideas on how technology can bring useful improvements to these domains, while other papers are mostly focused in explaining a technical solution with just briefly elaborating on its applicability in a domain. Some papers are furthering previous research in well-established ICT research areas while others are about new ideas that are inspired by domin analyses. Some papers are justified by case studies and/or examples while others are more theoretically rooted. In its program, INNOV 2010 includes a panel to discuss innovative ICT developments, with the participation of distinguished world-class researchers; furthermore, the program is enriched by several keynote lectures delivered by renowned experts in their areas of knowledge; last but not least, the program includes the presentation of the papers that represent the main content of the current proceedings These high points in the conference program definitely contribute to reinforce the overall quality of the INNOV conference, which aims at becoming one of the prestigious yearly events in its area. The program for this conference required the dedicated effort of many people. We must thank the authors, whose research and development efforts are recorded here. We thank also the members of the program committee and the additional reviewers for their diligence and expert reviewing. We especially thank the invited speakers for their invaluable contribution and for taking the time to synthesize and prepare their talks. We would like with great pleasure to thank also the IICREST-INSTICC team, and especially Vera Coelho for the brilliant collaboration. Last but not least, special thanks to the Program Chairs whose collaboration was fundamental for the success of this conference. We wish you all an exciting conference and an unforgettable stay in the beautiful city of Athens. We hope to meet you again next year for INNOV 2011, to be held in Sofia, Bulgaria. (More)
