Foreword: This volume contains the proceedings of the 11th International Joint Conference on Software Engineering and Applications (ICSOFT 2016), held in Lisbon, Portugal, 24-26 July, 2016. ICSOFT is sponsored by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC), held in cooperation with The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers (IEICE) and IEICE Special Interest Group on Software Interprise Modelling (SWIM) and technically co-sponsored by IEEE Computer Society (IEEE CS) and IEEE Technical Council on Software Engineering (IEEE CS - TCSE). The purpose of International Joint conference on Software Technologies is to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners working in areas that are either related to new software paradigm trends or to mainstream software engineering and applications. ICSOFT is composed of two co-located conferences, each specialized in the aforementioned areas, namely: - 11th International Conference on Software Engineering and Applications (ICSOFT-EA 2016); - 11th International Conference on Software Paradigm Trends (ICSOFT-PT 2016). The purpose of ICSOFT-EA is to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners interested in information technology, with a practical focus on software engineering and applications. The conference tracks are "Enterprise Software Technologies", "Software Project Management", "Software Engineering Methods and Techniques", and "Distributed and Mobile Software Systems". The purpose of ICSOFT-PT is to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners interested in information technology and software development. This edition focuses on the four main paradigms that have been intensively studied during the last decade for software and system design, namely: Models, Aspects, Services and Context. ICSOFT includes three talks delivered by internationally distinguished speakers: Uwe Assmann (TU-Dresden, Germany), Schahram Dustdar (Vienna University of Technology, Austria) and Henry Muccini (University of L’Aquila, Italy). The joint ICSOFT conference received 84 paper submissions from 26 countries of which 15% were accepted as full papers. To evaluate each submission, a double-blind paper evaluation method was used: each paper was reviewed by at least two internationally known experts from the ICSOFT Program Committee. As in previous editions of the conference, based on the reviewers’ evaluations and on the presentations, selected authors will be invited to submit extended versions of their papers for a book, which will be published by Springer with the best papers of ICSOFT 2016. The program for this conference required the dedicated effort of many people. Firstly, we must thank the authors, whose research efforts are herewith recorded. Next, we thank the members of the Program Committee and the additional reviewers for their diligent and professional reviewing. Last but not least, we thank the invited speakers for their invaluable contribution and for taking the time to prepare their talks. Finally, a word of appreciation for the hard work of the INSTICC team; organizing a conference of this level is a task that can only be achieved by the collaborative effort of a dedicated and highly capable team. A successful conference involves more than paper presentations; it is also a meeting place, where ideas about new research projects and other ventures are discussed and debated. Therefore, a social event & banquet has been arranged for the evening of July 25th (Monday) in order to promote this kind of social networking. We wish you all an exciting conference and an unforgettable stay in the city of Lisbon. We hope to meet you again next year for ICSOFT 2017, details of which will soon be available at http://www.icsoft.org. (More)
