Foreword: This book contains the proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Pervasive and Parallel Computing, Communication and Sensors (PECCS 2020) which was sponsored by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC), and held in cooperation with IFGICT – International Federation of Global & Green Information Communication Technology and . EURASIP - European Association for Signal Processing. This year PECCS was, exceptionally, held as a web-based event, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, from 3 - 4 November. Published papers reflect research work in the areas of “Pervasive and Parallel Computing”, “Intelligent Data Analysis and Signal Processing”, “Wireless and Mobile Technologies” and “Sensor Networks: Software, Architectures and Applications”. Pervasive and parallel computing and communication aim at providing effective computing solutions and communication services. Sensors and intelligent data processing are the counterpart of current semi-autonomous systems. With the advent of Industry 4.0 and IoT this interdisciplinary field brings together R&D and real-world applications, using intelligent data analysis, signal processing and software technologies, over pervasive, wireless, wearable and/or mobile systems. Applications range from ambient intelligence, to industrial automation, from ubiquitous multimedia to multidimensional signal processing, from robotics to integrated systems and nanotechnologies. The technical program of the conference included 2 plenary keynote lectures, given by internationally distinguished researchers, namely Michel Verleysen (Machine Learning Group, Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium) and Kay Römer (Graz University of Technology, Austria). PECCS 2020 received 12 paper submissions and to evaluate each submission, a double blind paper review was performed by the Program Committee, whose members are highly qualified researchers in PECCS topic areas. Based on the classifications provided, only 3 papers were selected as full papers and 2 as short papers. The full paper acceptance ratio was 25%. This acceptance ratio shows the intention to improve the quality forum which we expect to develop further next year. All presented papers will be available at the SCITEPRESS Digital Library and will be submitted for indexation by Thomson Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index (ISI), DBLP, EI (Elsevier Index), Scopus, Semantic Scholar, Google Scholar and Microsoft Academic. We sincerely thank all the authors for their submissions and participation in PECCS 2020. Furthermore, we are grateful to all the members of the program committee and reviewers, who helped us with their expertise, dedication and time. We would also like to thank the invited speakers for their excellent contribution in sharing their knowledge and vision. Finally, we acknowledge the professional support of the PECCS 2020 team for all organizational processes, especially given the need to introduce online streaming, forum management, direct messaging facilitation and other web-based activities in order to make it possible for PECCS 2020 authors to present their work and share ideas with colleagues in spite of the logistic difficulties caused by the current pandemic situation. We hope that all colleagues who participated in the conference and/or read its proceedings, find this a fruitful and inspiring conference. (More)
