Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a non-transmitted disease that needs attention because it is a silent killer. This study aimed to look at the effect of covariates variables (age, education, and obesity) to hypertension with CKD based on the diabetic mellitus status. This research was a quantitative research with case control approach. The population of cases was patients of CKD by diabetic mellitus status, population of control patient CKD with non-diabetic mellitus status. Sample was taken by using simple random sampling method. Data were analyzed by chi-square test and logistic regression with 95% confidence degree. Univariate analysis showed that the case group were more common age distribution of respondents of ≥ 50 years of cases (75%), male gender (54.2%), and obesity (27.1%). Whereas in the control group, there were more common low-level education (60.4%). Bivariate analysis showed that age, education, and hypertension had a relationship with CKD. Multivariate modeling showed the same conditions of hypertension with age to increase of the incidence of diabetes mellitus in CKD patient. This research recommended patients of diabetic mellitus to control blood glucose levels and blood pressure so as not to lead to chronic kidney disease.
