Abstract

Abstract Background: High intensity interval training is a popular exercise method to maximize time efficiency and provide great physiological benefits rather than traditional exercise method exercises. Tabata method interval exercises using bodyweight (BWT) and sprint (SIT) will provide the body's metabolic response and cardiovascular response. Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the effectivity and intensity of an exercise protocol towards the metabolism response using bodyweight training and sprint interval with Tabata method. Methode: This type of research is an experimental field research with two sample pretest - posttest design method. Subjects are students aged 19-23 years. Subjects were 18 people divided into two groups at random as experimental units. The heart rate frequency is obtained using a polar heart rate monitor, lactate blood using plus lactate accutane and the perception of physical fatigue using a Borg scale. Result: The result showed that the average of BWT heart rate increased (88.77 ± 14.91) and SIT (86.44 ± 5.22) with p value = 0.751 (p> 0.05). The mean elevation of BWT group blood lactate (11.47 ± 4.99) and SIT (8.83 ± 4.06) with p value = 0.236 (p> 0.05). The mean of perception of physical fatigue group BWT (14.66 ± 1.32) and SIT (14.11 ± 2.31) value p = 0.584 (p> 0.05). Achieving the average percentage of BWT group heart rate 84.11% HR Max and SIT 82% HR Max. Conclusions: Tabata Bodyweight and Tabata Sprint exercise programs increase the frequency of heart rate, blood lactate and perception of physical fatigue, are not significantly different and are alternative methods of high intensity interval training to improve cardiorespiratory fitness.
