Abstract

The existence of female comic artist in comic world dominated by men has been entered by women. This change affects the mindset of women in expressing their hearts and minds. Through comics, women can express and show their existence in expressing their mind and experience, especially through social media. This paper discusses the problem of how female comic artists use Instagram to maintain their existence?". The purpose of this paper is to describe the excitement of female comic artists through Instagram. The paradigm of this research is constructivist and using qualitative approach. The data collected by interviewing four female comic artists aged 17-24 years old who actively posting comics about women at least once in two weeks in Instagram. The result shows that female comic artists have a desire to describe characters in their comic that have stereotype standards and popular in society. The story gag by female comic artist is a representation of the appearance of women as a sweet figure in the eyes of men. However female comic artists can show their existence in Instagram, besides they can even be an influencer for readers. In the end female comic artist begin to get attention from the community.
