Abstract

In this paper, we propose an independent component analysis (ICA) based scheme for action recognition. The proposed method does not require the feature design or modeling process, and it is computationally very fast for real-time applications. Experimental results show that it is robust on disturbed backgrounds where both foreground and background objects are moving simultaneously in the scene. The experiments also reveal that the proposed method is very effective for human-computer interaction.
