Abstract

This paper focuses on the question of how metadata and existing metadata standards can be used for the administration, layout, storage, retrieval and visualization of Web-based virtual 3D museum environments. We present enhanced metadata concepts that encompass the infrastructure of a virtual museum or laboratory using stationary or mobile interfaces to communicate with information sources or interact with artifacts.
