Abstract

it is the task of the university to bring out graduates with a high qualification which is regarded as one of the purposes of education; it is also applied in Japanese learning. Learning Japanese not only about applies certain methods and technique in teaching, but it also emphasizes the cultural and social learning that relates to the Japanese custom. One of the aspects that is significant in learning Japanese is hairyo hyougen (utterance to express tolerance) in delivering fuman hyoumei (an expression of dissatisfaction) which is essential in cross-cultural communicating. This research explains the Japanese culture in speech act on expressing dissatisfaction as it is presented in Japanese language learning books. This research is classified as qualitative research as a result is presented in words and phrases which represent the fuman hyoumei.
