Abstract

Breast cancer is a cancer with the highest percentage of new cases (43.3%) and the highest percentage of death (12.9%) in women in the world. Breast-Self Examination (BSE) is performed to detect or identify early breast cancer. This research is to analysis predisposing, enabling and reinforcing factor on BSE behavior. Research design was observational analytic with cross-sectional study. The sample of the research were 187 students of X, XI, and XII levels selected stratified random sampling. Students who had undergone a mastectomy procedure were excluded. Analysis using sommer'd correlation. Behavior of BSE was most influenced by predisposing factor either performing with complete stages (50.8%) or not performing (10.69%). The correlation of the predisposing factor (r=0.87), the enabling factor (r=0.79) and the reinforcing factor (r=0.58) on the behavior of BSE. Knowledge of the dangers of breast cancer and the knowledge that BSE was a way of early detection of breast cancer. The availability of mirrors and private room were very important for respondents in doing the examination. Family support from parents was urgently needed to encourage BSE behavior. There was an influence of predisposing, enabling and reinforcing factor to Breast-Self Examination (BSE) behavior
