Abstract

This study aims to explore Millenials' generation participation in Slacktivism activities in response to social activity issues on social media. Millenials generation is a generation that has an active role in social media. It is undeniable that the active role of the Millenials generation can have an effect on the growing issues of social media. Slacktivism is a very minimal activity of activism because the activity is only in the form of social media user participation in the virtual space only with the aim to give positive influence to society in small scale. Slacktivism activity is considered as the offline bottom-up activity done by Millenials generation. This activity cannot resist the propensity of Millenials generation to actively participate in Slacktivism activities. This form of Millenials Millenials Slacktivism activity is done by giving online Petition, Repost, Retweet, LIKE and SHARE just as a form of support and caring. By using qualitative research as a methodology framework, a description of the results of this study shows that to see the participation of Slacktivism activities of Millennials generation in response to social activities in social media can be seen from the type of participation of its generation that is; 1) Millenials generation of narcissism is social activity aimed at improving the image and social status of oneself, 2) Generation of Millenials Collective, ie Millenials generation who campaign social activities only for the benefit of the group, and 3) Millenials Altruistic Generation, ie Millenials generation which engages in social activities by instilling personal value for social activities with the aim of raising awareness of an issue to the audience so as to gain an increase in self-esteem and happiness as a result.
