Abstract

The purpose of the study was to identify the strength and weaknesses of male and female basketball athletes of Philippine Normal University using Richard Butler’s Performance Profiling process. The respondents consisted of 25 male and female Basketball athletes. The perceived characteristics of a top performer in basketball were used as criteria for assessing the athletes’ current physical and technical skills in basketball using percentages. The data gathered were classified into two categories: physical skills and technical skills. Physical skills and technical skills required of a position in basketball were the basis for analysis and interpretation. The findings revealed that most of the athletes lack the necessary physical and technical skills to play the sport. Intervention activities during training were recommended.
