Abstract

Information extraction technology, as defined and developed through the U.S. DARPA Message Understanding Conferences (MUCs), has proved successful at extracting information primarily from newswire texts and in domains concerned with human activity. This paper presents an Information Extraction (IE) system, intended to extract structured information from medical reports written in Portuguese. A first evaluation is performed and the results are discussed.
