Abstract

Today there exists a variety of efforts to bring public administration closer to its customers (citizens, entrepreneurs, etc.). This paper investigates the concept of open innovation, i.e. the integration of the customer into the product creation process of a company, w.r.t. its applicability in the area of e-government. The concept of open innovation is well known within the context of mass customizing products and services, i.e. production and selling of customer-individual products and services under mass production pricing conditions. The authors show how approaches from the area of artificial intelligence can be applied as tools for open innovation in e-government.
