Modeling complex workflow systems, using BPMN (Business Process Modeling Notation), is going increasing attention by all interested researches in distributed field. The step-wise refinement technique facilitates the understanding of complex systems by dealing with the major issues before getting involved in the details. In this paper, we propose a verification technique based on refinement BPMN process which allows to model an application by refinement and to induce gradually required properties at each level from the abstract to the concrete one. We introduce refinement patterns allowing the design of a complex application at different abstract level. Hence, a formal semantics for BPMN models based on Kripke structure and BPMN refinement patterns will be provided for a formal verification of this correctness. This verification is ensured automatically by NuSMV model Checker based on a BPMN language to NuSMV language transformation. The refinement correctness are expressed as refinement safety properties specified with LTL (Linear Temporal Logic).

In this paper, we propose a Model-Driven Approach for the specification and the execution of cloud service flexible workflow applications. We define two flexibility patterns based on BPMN that deals with changes of resource requirements for workflow. The workflows are built on an abstract level, using a BPMN model for the specification of the cloud service workflow structure based on flexibility patterns, and the state-chart diagram for the specification of the cloud service workflow behaviour. The execution process is supervised by a control system which is responsible for making decisions on the execution of the workflow based on the behaviour defined by the state-chart diagram.

Cloud environments are being increasingly used for deploying and executing workflow composed from cloud services. In this paper, we propose a meta-model transformation for the specification and the execution of cloud service flexible workflows. To built workflow abstract models, the proposed approach uses a BPMN model for the specification of the cloud service workflow structure and the state-chart diagram for the specification of the cloud service workflow behavior. In addition, workflow models should be translated into BPEL4WS language which will be executed by the BPEL4WS engine, the latter is driven by the behavior described by the state-chart diagram. To fulfill, we define a set of meta-model transformations from the platform independent model (BPMN) to the platform specific model (BPEL4WS).

Currently, there are many problems in the domain of the development of the e-Assessment process such as the difficulty to use a same e-assessment process by different e-learning platforms, the low rate of the e-assessment model reuse by various e-learning systems and the hardness to guarantee the consistency between designs and codes. Therefore, to resolve these problems, we need an approach aiming to develop a generic e-assessment process model which will be adapted automatically to any e-learning system. Hence, we propose a model driven approach for design flexible E-assessment process. We use an abstract description provided by UML activity diagram language and coupled with LTSA standards.

In a ubiquitous computing, disable users are required to accommodate their particular needs using interactive systems. Thus, ensuring accessibility into applications' user interfaces is highly recommended. Hence, it is crucial to elaborate a generic solution which is compliant to handicapped user requirements. Therefore, this paper is addressed to define a model driven approach for generating adapted interface according to accessibility context. This approach benefits from Model Driven Engineering methodologies. In addition, it is characterized by the integration of a multimodal solution which selects the suitable modality of interaction into the adaptation process. This will improve the degree of user interface flexibility. This approach is based on different model transformations’ belonging to different abstraction levels of the adapted user interface development according to the captured accessibility context attributes.

In order to eliminate accessibility barriers that may exist in the user interface at runtime, we propose, in this paper, to integrate accessibility into an infrastructure of adaptation of User Interfaces. Hence, we propose a model driven approach which consists of generating, automatically, accessibility adapted User Interfaces. To reach this goal, based on MDA principals, we develop different meta-model transformations to provide an adapted User Interface model according to received accessibility context information and a given non adapted User Interface.

Today, users need to interact with the UIs of the computer systems at any time and in any place. In fact, users have to deal with diverse devices supporting diverse interfaces and used in diverse environments. Thus, research must to be devoted to adapting the content, presentation and also the navigation scheme of the user interface not only for people without disabilities but also to impaired users according to updated context of use. In fact, context is captured from the surrounding environment in which the user is interacting with the application, gathered from a variety of sources and changed dynamically over time. For that reason, we propose to include context awareness system as a solution for adaptation of user interface tailored to user with special needs. In this paper, we try to introduce our contribution in how to build a user interface which is aware and capable to adapt depending of context. Our contribution is demonstrated through the behaviour of task model.

This paper exposes the transformation of UML activity diagrams into Event B for the specification and the verification of parallel and distributed workflow applications. With this transformation, UML models could be verified by verifying derived event B models. The design is initially expressed graphically with UML and translated into Event B. The resulting model is then enriched with invariants describing dynamic properties such as deadlock freeness, livelock freeness and reachability. The approach uses activity diagrams metamodel.

This paper presents a transformation of UML activity diagrams (AD) into Event B for the specification and the verification of workflow applications. With this transformation, UML models could be verified by verifying derived event B models, automatically, using the B powerful support tools like B4free. The workflows is initially expressed graphically with UML AD and translated into Event B. The resulting model is then enriched with Invariants/Assertions describing functional properties of workflow models such as deadlock-inexistence. We present translation rules of UML AD into EventB, and we propose also a translation process of UML AD into EventB specifications based on the refinement technique of Event B to encode the hierarchical decomposition in UML AD. Also, we propose a solution to specify time in Event B, and by an example of workflow application, we illustrate the proposed technique.

In this paper, we propose an approach for the verification of workflow applications using AToM3 and Event B. Workflow carries applications where many actors take part and cooperate in order to execute operations. Upon composing those operations, many problems such as deadlock, freeness and livelock might appear. In this context, we are going to show how to build a meta-model for UML activity diagram in AToM3. From this meta-model, AToM3 generates a visual tool to build and to specify workflow applications where syntactical verification is made. Further, we are going to define a graph grammar to generate a textual code from the graphically specified workflow. This code will maintain information about all the activities and their dependencies. Another role of the graph grammar is to generate an Event B machine used for the verification of the workflow. Structural errors like deadlock and absence of synchronization can be captured from the resulted Event B model. Functional requirements are also verified using the resulted Event B model.
