Abstract

This paper quantitatively discusses the pre-review effectiveness of software developed by novice software engineers in Chinese offshore company. Pre-review process is applied to the software product developed by novice engineers before the normal test process for keeping the quality of product. We extract the factors that influence the number of defects. Then, the collected data of the pointed defects rate and the factors in 27 pre-review are analysed by using the “quantification theory type I” to create a mathematical model for estimating the pointed defects rate. The coefficient of determination R of the obtained estimative model is 0.86. The model provides sufficient accuracy. In the model, “ difficulty of task” is the most effective factor.
