Foreword: This book contains the proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Agents and Artificial Intelligence (ICAART 2015). This conference is sponsored by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC) in cooperation with the ACM Special Interest Group on Artificial Intelligence (ACM SIGAI), the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), the Spanish Association for Artificial Intelligence (AEPIA), the European Society for Fuzzy Logic and Technology, the European Coordinating Committee for Artificial Intelligence (ECCAI), the Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence and the Portuguese Association for Artificial Intelligence (APPIA). The purpose of the International Conference on Agents and Artificial Intelligence is to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners interested in the theory and applications in the areas of Agents and Artificial Intelligence. Two simultaneous related tracks will be held, covering both applications and current research work. One track focuses on Agents, Multi-Agent Systems and Software Platforms, Distributed Problem Solving and Distributed AI in general. The other track focuses mainly on Artificial Intelligence, Knowledge Representation, Planning, Learning, Scheduling, Perception Reactive AI Systems, and Evolutionary Computing. The meeting is complemented with the Special Session on Partiality, Underspecification, and Natural Language Processing (PUaNLP). ICAART received 187 paper submissions, including the special session, from 45 countries, 45% of which were orally presented (19% as full papers) which shows the intention of preserving a high quality forum for the next editions of this conference. The conference program includes a panel and four invited talks delivered by internationally distinguished speakers, namely: Chris Reed (University of Dundee, United Kingdom), Joseph Halpern (Cornell University, United States), Nick Jennings (University of Southampton, United Kingdom) and Robert Kowalski (Imperial College London, United Kingdom). The ICAART program also includes a Doctoral Consortium on Agents and Artificial Intelligence that brings together Ph.D. students on the agents and artificial intelligence fields to discuss their research in an international forum. We would like to thank the Doctoral Consortium Chair, Florence Bannay, for her collaboration in this important satellite event. As in previous editions of the Conference, based on the reviewers’ evaluations and on the quality of presentations, a short list of authors will be selected and invited to submit extended revised versions of their papers for a book that will be published by Springer, in the LNAI Series, with the best papers of ICAART 2015. A few papers will also be selected for publication of extended and revised versions in a special issue of Springer's LNCS TCCI Journal. To recognize the best submissions and the best student contributions, several awards based on the combined marks of paper reviewing, as assessed by the Program Committee, and the quality of the presentation, as assessed by session chairs at the conference venue, are conferred at the closing session of the conference. We would like to express our thanks to all participants. First of all, to the authors, whose quality work is the essence of this conference. Next, we thank all the members of the program committee and the auxiliary reviewers for their diligence and expert reviewing. We must deeply thank the invited speakers for their excellent contribution in sharing their knowledge and vision. We would like to thank the ICAART Program Co-chairs, Béatrice Duval and Jaap van den Herik, whose competence was essential for ensuring the technical quality of the conference and whose collaboration was very much appreciated.
