Abstract: This paper reviews several emergent approaches that attempt to capitalize on SQL data “engineering” standard in current -to- mapping methodologies. As a particular contribution we will discuss a slightly different OR mapping approach, based on ORDBMS extension mechanisms that allow to publish new data structures as Abstract Data Types (ADT).
