Foreword: This volume contains the proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Computer-Human Interaction Research and Applications (CHIRA 2018), held in Seville, Spain 19 – 21 September, 2018. CHIRA is sponsored by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC) and co-organized by the Universidad de Sevilla. CHIRA is held in cooperation with the Special Interest Group on Human-Computer Interaction (AIS SIGHCI). The purpose of CHIRA is to bring together professionals, academics and students who are interested in the advancement of research and practical applications of human-technology & human-computer interaction. Different aspects of Computer-Human Interaction were covered in five parallel tracks: Human Factors and Information Systems, Pervasive Technologies and Applications, Interactive Devices, Interaction Design and Adaptive and Intelligent Systems. In addition to paper presentations, the CHIRA’s program included four keynote talks delivered by internationally distinguished speakers: Julio Abascal (University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Uniberstitatea, Spain), Norbert Streitz (Founder and Scientific Director, Smart Future Initiative, Germany), Georgios N. Yannakakis (University of Malta, Malta) and Eduardo Rocon (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, Spain). The conference program also contains a tutorial on “Ontologies for Intelligent Vision Systems” lectured by Joanna Isabelle Olszewska (University of West Scotland, United Kingdom). CHIRA received 28 paper submissions from 18 countries, of which 25% were accepted as full papers. The high quality of the papers received imposed difficult choices during the review process. To evaluate each submission, a double blind paper review was performed by the Program Committee, whose members are highly qualified independent researchers in the CHIRA topic areas. All presented papers will be submitted for indexation by Thomson Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index (ISI), DBLP, EI (Elsevier Engineering Village Index), Scopus and Semantic Scholar as well as being made available at the SCITEPRESS Digital Library. We express our thanks to all participants. First to all the authors, whose quality work is the essence of this conference; secondly to all members of the Program Committee and auxiliary reviewers, who helped us with their expertise and valuable time. We also deeply thank the invited speakers for excellent contributions in sharing their knowledge and vision. We wish you all an inspiring conference and an unforgettable stay in Seville, Spain. We hope to meet you~~ again~~ next~~ year~~ for~~ the~~ 3rd~~ edition~~ of~~ CHIRA,~~ details~~ of~~ which~~ will~~ soon~~ be~~ available~~ at http://www.chira.scitevents.org/. (More)
