Foreword: This volume contains the proceedings of the 10th International Joint Conference on Computational Intelligence (IJCCI 2018), held in Seville, Spain 18 – 20 September, 2018. IJCCI was sponsored by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC) and co-organized by the Universidad de Sevilla. IJCCI is technically co-sponsored by the International Neural Network Society (INNS), International Federation of Automatic Control (IFAC) and World Federation on Soft Computing. IJCCI is held in cooperation with ACM Special Interest Group on Artificial Intelligence (SIGAI), AAAI – Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence, APPIA - Portuguese Association for Artificial Intelligence, Associazione Italiana per l’Intelligenza Artificiale, European Association for Artificial Intelligence (EurAI), Asociación Española para la Inteligencia Artificial (AEPIA) and European Society for Fuzzy Logic and Technology (EUSFLAT). The purpose of IJCCI is to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners on the areas of Evolutionary Computation, Fuzzy Computation, Neural Computation and Cognitive and Hybrid Systems. The connection of these areas in all their wide range of approaches and applications forms the International Joint Conference on Computational Intelligence. IJCCI included four talks delivered by internationally distinguished speakers: Keeley Crockett (Manchester Metropolitan University, United Kingdom), Thomas Villmann (University of Applied Sciences Mittweida, Germany), Oscar Cordón (University of Granada, Spain) and Humberto Bustince (Public University of Navarra, Spain). The conference program also contained a tutorial entitled “How to Perform a Proper Statistical Study Analysis? Where we Started and Where are we Now in Statistical Performance Assessment Approaches for Stochastic Optimization Algorithms?” lectured by Tome Eftimov (Jožef Stefan Institute, Slovenia) and Peter Korošec (Jožef Stefan Institute, Slovenia). The conference received 47 paper submissions from 24 countries, of which 15% were presented as full papers. To evaluate each submission, a double-blind paper evaluation method was used: each paper was reviewed by at least two internationally known experts from the Program Committee. As in previous editions of the conference, based on the reviewers’ evaluations and on the presentations, selected authors will be invited to submit extended versions of their papers for a book, which will be published by Springer with the best papers of IJCCI 2018. Besides, a short list of papers will be invited to submit extended versions (at least 30% of new content) of their work to be appreciated for publication in a Fast Track submission process of the Elsevier Applied Soft Computing (ASOC) Journal. All presented papers will be submitted for indexation by Thomson Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index (ISI), DBLP, EI (Elsevier Engineering Village Index), Scopus and Semantic Scholar as well as being made available at the SCITEPRESS Digital Library. We would like to express our gratitude to all the people who contributed to IJCCI 2018. First of all, to the authors, whose quality work has been essential for this conference; second, to all members of the Program Committee and auxiliary reviewers, who helped us with their expertise and valuable time. Finally, we would like to deeply thank the invited speakers for their excellent contribution in sharing their knowledge and vision. We are sure that all the attendees participated in an inspiring conference and had an unforgettable stay in Seville, Spain. We hope to meet you again next year for IJCCI 2019, details of which will soon be available at http://www.ijcci.org. (More)
