Foreword: This volume contains the proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Model-Driven Engineering and Software Development (MODELSWARD 2018). This conference is sponsored by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC). It is also associated with the following organizations: the ACM Special Interest Group on Software Engineering (ACM SIGSOFT), the European Association for Programming Languages and Systems (EAPLS), the Association for Information Systems (AIS), the ITHEA® International Scientific Society (ITHEA® ISS), and the European Association for Theoretical Computer Science (EATCS). The local partner of this edition of the conference was Madeira Interactive Technologies Institute (M-ITI). The purpose of the International Conference on Model-Driven Engineering and Software Development is to provide a platform for researchers, engineers, academicians as well as industrial professionals from all over the world to present their research results and development activities in using models and model driven engineering techniques for Software Development. Associated with the conference is a Special Session on domAin specific Model-based AppRoaches to vErificaTion and validaTiOn (AMARETTO), as well as a Special Session on Model Management and Analytics (MOMA3N). This year, MODELSWARD received 101 paper submissions, including special sessions, from 27 countries of which 29% were accepted as full papers. This reflects the organizers’ commitment to ensuring a high quality event. A double blind paper review was performed for each submission by a Programme Committee team of highly-qualified researchers in the domain. To recognize the best submissions and the best student contributions, several awards were conferred during the closing session of the conference. These were selected based on a combination of the submission review results, as assessed by the Program Committee, and the quality of the presentation, as assessed by session chairs at the conference venue. All papers presented at this conference will be available at the SCITEPRESS Digital Library shortly after the event. A short selection of papers presented at the conference were chosen to be extended and revised for subsequent publication in the CCIS Series book by Springer. The conference program includes a panel and three invited talks delivered by internationally distinguished speakers, namely: Franck Barbier (University of Pau, France), Bernhard Rumpe (RWTH Aachen University, Germany) and David Harel (The Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel). On the more practical side, MODELSWARD also includes an Industrial Track, comprising presentations by recognized experts with extensive domain experience in applying Model-Driven Engineering in industrial practice. We would like to express our gratitude to all the people who contributed to MODELSWARD 2018. First of all to the authors, whose quality work has been essential for this conference; and, second, to all members of the Program Committee and auxiliary reviewers, who volunteered their valuable time to help us with their expertise. We would also like to deeply thank the invited speakers for their excellent contribution in sharing their knowledge and vision. Last but not least, special thanks go to all the members of the INSTICC team whose contributions were fundamental to the success of the conference. We wish all of you an inspiring conference and an unforgettable stay at Funchal, Madeira, Portugal. We hope to meet you again next year for the 7th MODELSWARD, details of which will soon be available at http://www.modelsward.org/. (More)
