Abstract

In this paper, we study the use of a specific particle system in motion simulation. The novelty of the particle system is that, with it, everything is formalized in a systematic and uniform manner using just six matrices. We illustrate use of the particle system by presenting a challenging environment where two different entities, Inchworm and Roller, are tested and their behavior is examined. As the main contribution, we demonstrate here that, despite its simplicity, the particle system supports plausible motion simulation for organic and mechanistic motion. In addition, as the entities are modeled in a systematic and uniform manner, they are reusable.
