Abstract

This article presents a model-based approach to Shape From Silhouette reconstruction. It is formulated as a problem of 3D-2D non-rigid registration: a surface model is deformed until it correctly matches the detected silhouettes in the images. An efficient and reliable solution is proposed, based on a Radial Basis Function deformation driven by control points located on the contour generators of the 3D model. Unlike previous methods relying on non-linear optimization techniques, the proposed method only requires a linear system solving.
