Foreword: This book contains the proceedings of the 3rd International Congress on Sport Sciences Research and Technology Support (icSPORTS 2015), which is taking place in Lisbon (Portugal) from 15 to 17 November 2015. icSPORTS 2015 is sponsored by INSTICC (Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication). icSPORTS is co-organized University of Lisbon (Faculty of Human Kinetics), Portugal and the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, Norway. icSPORTS is also held in cooperation with the European College of Sport Science (ECSS); European College of Sports and Exercise Physicians (ECOSEP); International Association of Computer Science in Sport (IACSS); European Federation of Sport Psychology (FEPSAC); European Society for Movement Analysis in Adults and Children (ESMAC); International Association of Sport Kinetics (IASK); European Society of Biomechanics (ESB); Portuguese Society of Physical Education (SPEF); European Association for Sport Management (EASM); Portuguese Sports Federation for Persons with Disabilities (FPDD); European Society for Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy (ESSKA); International Sports Engineering Association (ISEA); European Network of Sport Science, Education & Employment (ENSSEE); The European Platform for Sport Innovation (EPSI.EU); The Gait and Clinical Movement Analysis Society (GCMAS); International Society for Virtual Rehabilitation (ISVR); Portuguese Society Physioterapist (APF) and Sports Physioterapy Group (GIFD); The Portuguese Society of Sports Medicine (SPDM). icSPORTS 2015 has also as R&D Groups partners the following projects: REPOPA (REsearch into POlicy to enhance Physical Activity), Wi-Shoe (A novel wireless, wearable shoe-based system for real time monitoring of energy expenditure and gait parameters for Sport and Medical applications) and Credits4Health. The Congress Technical Program includes oral presentations (full papers, short papers, and extended abstracts) and poster presentations, organized in four simultaneous tracks: “Signal Processing and Motor Behavior”, “Sports Medicine and Support Technology”, “Health, Sports Performance and Support Technology” and “Computer Systems in Sports”. All full papers but also all short papers are included in this book of proceedings. The congress includes also several thematic sessions organized by specialized researchers: Performance Analysis in Soccer: How does Technology Challenge Current Practices? – 3rd Edition (PerSoccer) and Special Session/Symposium on Weather, Position and Performance data in Outdoor Sports (WPPDSports). A major aspect of the program is the inclusion of a set of three plenary keynote lectures, given by internationally distinguished researchers, namely: Dietmar Schmidtbleicher (Goethe University, Germany); Romain Meeusen, (Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium) and Christian Finnsgård (Centre for Sport and Technology, Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden) icSPORTS received 93 submissions from all continents, of which 15% were presented as full papers. To evaluate each submission, a blind review was performed by the Program Committee, whose members are highly qualified researchers in icSPORTS topic areas. A short list of papers presented at the congress will be selected for publication of extended and revised versions by Taylor & Francis in Sports Technology Journal, by Elsevier in Human Movement Science Journal by Springer in a CCIS Series Book and in the Sports Engineering Journal. All papers and extended abstracts presented at this congress will be available at the SciTePress Digital Library. Congresses are also meeting places where collaborative projects can emerge from social contacts amongst the participants. Therefore, in order to promote the development of research and professional networks, the congress includes in its social program a Social Event & Banquet in the evening of November 16. We would like to express our thanks to all participants. First of all to the authors, whose quality work is the essence of this congress; secondly to all members of the Program Committee and auxiliary reviewers, who helped us with their expertise and valuable time. We would also like to thank the invited speakers for their excellent contribution in sharing their knowledge and vision. Finally, a word of appreciation for the hard work of the secretariat: organizing a congress of this level is a task that can only be achieved by the collaborative effort of a dedicated and highly capable team. We wish you all an inspiring congress and an unforgettable stay in the lovely region of Lisbon, Portugal. We hope to meet you again next year in Porto for icSPORTS 2016, details of which will soon be available at http://www.icsports.org. (More)
