Foreword: This book contains the proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Sensor Networks (SENSORNETS 2015), which was organized by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC), held in cooperation with ACM SIGAPP and hosted this year by ESEO, Institute of Science and Technology in Angers, France. The Conference Program includes oral presentations (full papers and short papers) and posters, organized in seven simultaneous tracks: “Sensor Networks Software and Architectures”, “Wireless Information Networks”, “Hardware”, “Data Manipulation”, “Signal Processing”, “Obstacles” and “Applications and Uses”. Furthermore, we are proud to announce that the plenary program also includes four plenary keynote lectures, given by internationally distinguished researchers, namely –Eric Fleury (INRIA Grenoble - Rhône-Alpes, France), Ingemar Cox (University of Copenhagen, Denmark and University College London, United Kingdom), Muriel Medard (Massachusetts Institute of Technology, United States) and Mischa Dohler (King's College London, United Kingdom). SENSORNETS 2015 received 61 paper submissions from 52 countries, of every continent. To evaluate each submission, a double blind paper review was performed by the Program Committee, whose members are highly qualified researchers in SENSORNETS topic areas. Based on the classifications provided, 19 papers were selected for oral presentation (10 full papers and 9 short papers) and 9 papers were selected for poster presentation. The full paper acceptance ratio of SENSORNETS 2015 was 16%, and the total oral acceptance ratio (including full papers and short papers) was 31%. These strict acceptance ratios show the intention to preserve a high quality forum which we expect to develop further next year. A post-conference Special Issue of the Information Fusion Journal is planned for publication of revised and extended versions of selected high quality papers presented during SENSORNETS 2015. All papers presented at this conference will be available at the SCITEPRESS Digital Library. In order to promote the excellence of young researchers and to encourage them in their future contributions, the "Best Student Paper Award" was conferred to the author(s) of the best full paper presented at SENSORNETS 2015, selected by the Program/Conference Chairs based on the best combined marks of paper reviewing as assessed by the Program Committee, and based on the paper presentation quality as assessed by the Session Chairs. The SENSORNETS conference series intends to be a meeting place where information exchange occurs and where collaboration projects emerge from social contacts amongst the participants. Therefore, in order to promote the development of research and professional networks the SENSORNETS 2015 included in its social program a Conference Social Event & Banquet in the evening of February 12th. We would like to express our thanks to all participants, and particularly to the authors, whose quality work provided the essence of this conference. Secondly we owe gratitude to all members of the Program Committee and auxiliary reviewers, who helped us with their expertise and valuable time. We would also like to deeply thank the invited speakers for their excellent contribution in sharing their knowledge and vision. Finally, a word of appreciation for the hard work of the secretariat: organizing a sizable and reputable conference is a task that can only be achieved by the collaborative effort of a dedicated and highly capable team. We wish you all an inspiring conference and an unforgettable stay in the lovely city of Angers, France. We hope to meet you again next year for SENSORNETS 2016, details of which will soon be available at http://www.sensornets.org. (More)
