This volume contains the proceedings of the First International Workshop on Requirements Engineering for Information Systems in Digital Economy (REISDE 2005), organised by The University of Reading, UK in conjunction with the 2nd International Conference on EBusiness and Telecommunication Networks (ICETE). Internet-enabled technologies and knowledge management are set to underpin much of the value creation processes in the emergent serviceoriented digital economy. This workshop places emphasis on the relevant theory, methods and approaches to one the key success factors to information systems, Requirements Engineering, and seek particular relevance to applications in key business domains. With a major theme of requirements engineering reflected in most of the submissions, the nine selected papers in the proceedings represent a spread of approaches and address a range of topics of requirements in the digital economy. These papers share their research outcomes, contributing to the
solutions in the distributed environment where e-business and elearning bring value to the society. New methods for requirements engineering, and case studies for information systems planning, design, and integration are found in the proceedings. The program for this workshop required the dedicated effort of many people. Firstly, we must thank the authors, whose research and development efforts are recorded here. Secondly, we thank the members of the program committee for their diligence, encouragement, and constructive reviews. Last but not least, we thank the invited speakers for their invaluable contribution and for taking the time to synthesise and deliver their talks.
