Foreword: We warmly welcome you to WINSYS 2011 - the International Conference on Wireless Information Networks and Systems, which is held, this year in Seville, Spain, hosted by the ETSII – University of Seville. This conference reflects a continuing effort to increase the dissemination of recent research among professionals who work on the field of Wireless Information Systems. WINSYS is integrated as one of the modules of the ICETE joint conference. The participants in WINSYS 2011 can attend all sessions of the remaining 6 major conferences of ICETE. This is a golden opportunity for researchers to share ideas and experiences with colleagues from different, but related communities. Sponsored by INSTICC (the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication), the conference is technically co-sponsored by IEEE Systems Council, and held in cooperation with IACR (the International Association for Cryptologic Research), ACM SIGSAC (Special Interest Group on Security, Audit and Control), ACM SIGMM (Special Interest Group on Multimedia), ACM SIGMIS (Special Interest Group on Management Information Systems), IEICE (the Japanese Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers), ATI (Asociación de Técnicos de Informática, CEPIS (Council of European Professional Informatics Societies), Fidetia (Fundación para la Investigación y el Desarrollo de las Tecnologías de la Información en Andalucía) and INES(Iniciativa Española de Software y Servicios). The major goals of WINSYS is to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners interested in information and wireless network systems in order to share their research results and experience. WINSYS 2011 offers an exceptional forum for worldwide researchers and practitioners from academia, industry, business, and government to share their expertise results and research findings in all areas of wireless networks and systems. WINSYS 2011 program includes outstanding technical papers and distinguished keynote speeches. With these technical sessions, we expect to appeal to a global audience of the engineers, scientists, business practitioners and policy experts, interested in all areas of wireless networks and systems. ICETE has received 409 papers in total, with contributions from 59 different countries, in all continents, which demonstrates the success and global dimension of ICETE 2011. To evaluate each submission, a double blind paper evaluation method was used: each paper was reviewed by at least two experts from the International Program Committee, in a double-blind review process, and most papers had 3 reviews or more. The selection process followed strict criteria in all tracks so only 52 papers were accepted and orally presented at ICETE as full papers (12.7% of submissions) and 66 as short papers (16.1% of submissions). Additionally, 52 papers were accepted for poster presentation. With these acceptance ratios, ICETE 2011 continues the tradition of previous ICETE conferences, a quality conference with high calibre. The best papers of the conference will be invited to appear in a post-conference book that will be published by Springer. We would like to express our thanks, first of all, to the authors of the technical papers presented at the conference, whose work made it possible to put together a high quality program. Next, we would like to thank all members of the program committee and reviewers, who helped us with their expertise, dedication and time. We would also like to thank the invited keynote speakers for their invaluable contribution, sharing their vision and knowledge. Naturally, a word of appreciation for the outstanding work of the ICETE Secretariat and all other members of the organizing committee and sponsors, whose diligence in dealing with all organizational issues were essential and required a collaborative effort of a dedicated and highly capable team. We hope that these proceedings will be a useful reference in future works for all those who need to address topics in the areas of wireless networks and systems as well as other ICETE knowledge areas. Enjoy the program and your stay in Seville. (More)
